The Brainchild of Ken Voss, Guy Arnston and Ron Ramelli "Ma" Nugent's Mail ran in an entertainment newspaper called the "Illinois Entertainer" from 1980 until 1988. A "Dear Abbey" of sorts, "Ma" answered questions  and gave advice on everything from rock 'n' roll to social matters. In the years to come "Ma"  became widely known as the proverbial rock 'n' roll "Mom" and advice columnist.

When "Ma" started showing up in local clubs and concert venues, she became an instant celebrity. Her youthful charm and natural enthusiasm for all things rock 'n' roll  was respected in the community as an acceptance of the entire rock scene, by a generation that was largely against such  music and culture. "Ma" transcended her own generation by bridging this gap in a way which was entirely natural to her... she loved rock 'n' roll, especially the kind of soulful, spirited, energetic, rhythm 'n' blues based rock 'n' roll Ted would tell you ... he invented . The Chicagoland rock club scene was abuzz when "Ma" walked into the room. Whatever band she came to see immediately became her friends. She always encouraged musicians and bands alike to be their best every night  "give it your all", she used to say. She encouraged, inspired and imparted her wisdom for the captive audience she garnered as a columnist for the "Illinois Entertainer" . She is still missed 'til this day. There will never be anyone quite like her again.......still in the wind. You can read more about the "Illinois Entertainer" by visiting their web site at:
